All alone we go day after day All alone we suffer I wanna steal your heart away It's the same old thing in the same old way All alone we suffer I wanna steal your heart away The lies were creeping down, down, down While we were sleeping Suddenly we hit the ground Ah, come on, let's go, let's run away If that's all there is I wanna steal your heart away We suffer… We suffer… We suffer… I wanna steal your heart away

Look at her go There goes my baby Dancing barefoot in the snow What can I say? There goes my baby Why she leaves me I’ll never know Love can be so cruel I know, I know because it hurts me Look at her go There goes my baby I was alone Nothing could shake me Until that day, she came along The next thing you know There goes my baby Spinning in circles and singing her song Love can be so cruel I know, I know because it hurts me Look at her go There goes my baby And when the night shines down on me It seems like anything is possible She’ll climb the stairs up to the stars And reach out for me… Look at her go There goes my baby Dancing barefoot in the snow One day she won’t run One day she’ll take me To a place in the sun There goes my baby There goes my baby

I will come to you in the daytime And I will raise you from your sleep I will kiss you in four places As I go running down your street I will squeeze the life right out of you I will make you laugh and make you cry And we may never forget it And I will make you call my name as you shout into the blue, summer sky And we may never meet again So shed your skin and let's get started And you will throw your arms around me And you will throw your arms around me I will come to you at nighttime And I will climb into your bed I will kiss you in 165 places As I go swimming around in your head I will squeeze the life right out of you I will make you laugh and make you cry And we may never forget it And I will make you call my name as you shout into the blue, summer sky And we may never meet again So shed your skin and let's get started And you will throw your arms around me And you will throw your arms around me

We shared our secrets, you and I We blend together like day into night When something feels too good to be true That's when I cannot refuse I pictured us married with starry eyed kids 'Til I found what you buried at the edge of the wood Piecing together the life I've really lived You and I and them I'd like to find a way to love you I'd like to find a way to forgive the things you do I'd like to find a way to love you And if I don't, I'd like to find a way to say goodbye They say I'm a sucker, they say I'm a fool 'Cause I wanna be your lover no matter what you do Though sometimes you scare me half to death You're my lady - You're my Macbeth I'd like to find a way to love you I'd like to find a way to forgive the things you do I'd like to find a way to love you And if I don't, I'd like to find a way to say goodbye And if I don't, I'd like to find a way to say goodbye

about

Mike Viola and Kelly Jones singing and playing acoustic guitar together. Live on one mic, on analog tape, snowbound in the Hudson Valley. According to Mike, “Kelly and I had been working so closely together for a few years there, traveling a bunch, spending a lot of down time singing songs together and we built up this repertoire that demanded they be recorded. Pete Donnelly (producer) presented the idea of the church, me letting go of the wheel, and we were off and running.”

KJ Says:
Off the heels of SheBANG! (2008), I started performing more with Mike Viola. We played as a trio with Brian Wolfe on drums, and also as a duo. During that time, we developed more material suited to the simplicity of 2 acoustic guitars and 2 voices. More and more, after we'd perform, people would ask us if we had any recordings together, until finally we got the hint and booked some studio time. We decided to go to Waterfront Studios (old church-turned-recording studio), in Hudson, NY to work with one of the masters of tape, Henry Hirsch, along with good friend, Pete Donnelly (The Figgs), as producer. We recorded 5 songs live to tape over the course of 2 days and took pictures of each other and our surroundings with my Holga film cameras during lunch breaks. The whole experience felt like a pure exercise in performing and recording music. There were no added bells and whistles, no pitch corrections, no splicing and dicing. Melon (2010) is just the two of us with our guitars and voices and a couple of microphones to catch it all. about

Kelly Jones Los Angeles, California

Kelly Jones was raised on a horse farm in Ridgefield, WA. But her voice has carried her far and wide: Brooklyn, Manhattan’s East Village, Nashville and now Los Angeles. It’s a journey reflected in her vocal style: a mélange of west coast sunshine and east coast grit, held together with an effortlessly sweet confidence. Hers is a rare gift — a voice you can listen to all day and still want more. ... more
